Horsefly Lake is a 55 km long pristine wilderness lake located in the Cariboo region of British Columbia, Canada and is situated about 80 km from Williams Lake, British Columbia and about 10 km from the historic village of Horsefly (population 1000). The lake and surrounding area offer many activities including fishing, fly fishing, boating, sailing, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, watersports, sightseeing, hunting, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling as well as creative appeal such as Arts on the Fly (music, dance and arts festival) occurring in July. On Canada Day long weekend, why not venture into Williams Lake, step into the Wild West, and take in the World Famous Williams Lake Stampede! Alternatively, you may like to take an extended day trip up to the old time gold rush town of Barkerville. Williams Lake is the closest large center with many services including shopping, a hospital, car rentals and an airport offering regularly scheduled flights from Vancouver. Williams Lake also boasts an extensive network of mountain bike trails. The village of Horsefly offers a gas station, two general stores and two liquor outlets as well as a museum and a handful of other businesses. Horsefly Lake is also home to resorts, some of which have boat rentals and tours available.
